No ambulance to attend a accident scene

Why was there no ambulance available to go out to the accident scene which lasted about five hours before it was cleared?

• Concerned Randfontein resident writes:

On Saturday (16 November) a serious accident occured on the corner of Lazaar Road and Merwe Street in Wheatlands.

Only one fire truck with two fire fighters responded quickly to the scene to help the injured woman but sadly the husband passed away before anything could be done for him.

However, my problem is that even so, hours passed and there was still no ambulance on site.

As a result, a good samaritan decided to use his vehicle to transport the seriously injured woman to hospital.

So my questions to Randfontein Emergency Medical Services are as follows:

Why was there no ambulance available to go out to the accident scene which lasted about five hours before it was cleared?

Is it true that Randfontein only has only one ambulance to service the whole of Randfontein?

If so, then why do we not have more ambulances?
