Our very own library is in ruins

It's so sad to know that the youth of Mohlakeng have to walk/ travel to neighbourhood libraries to do research.

Good day.

I would like to know if the library in Mohlakeng Extension 7 is deserted, or what is going on?

The ceiling is damaged and both old and new books get ruined by the day and computers collect dust in the storage room.

I last went there early last year in March or April and was told that the library is closed – I could see the damage with my own eyes. But one morning recently when I went there again, hoping it’s up and running, nothing had been done.

It’s so sad to know that the youth of Mohlakeng have to walk/ travel to neighbourhood libraries such as Toekomsrus and Randfontein to do our research and other educational stuff and our very own library is in ruins.

I’m speaking on behalf of all the youth of Mohlakeng, asking for help from the Department of Education or Rand West City Local Municipality or whoever it may concern to please intervene. It’s been too long – and enough is enough!!

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
