Thank you for the article placed on us. Just a note/ correction regarding Aranda’s right to manufacture these blankets.
Aranda has had the right to manufacture the Basotho heritage blankets for a long time, therefore did not only obtain it “during the year”.
Effectively, as discussed, the trade marks (names) and designs associated with the Basotho blanket(s) (such as Victoria England) have been in existence for a long time, and all have entrenched symbolism and stories attached to them.
Perhaps when the time is opportune, it would be an extremely interesting and fascinating story to tell the readers about the history and meaning behind this particular blanket range.
As noted in the interview, I personally feel that the blankets speak about cultures and nations that merged harmoniously, which harmony still very much exists to this day. Although I don’t think many cultures and nations are able to tell a story like that, I feel that the Basotho blanket is testimony to the fact that it can sometimes happen and even stand the test of time.
