Stop paying rates and taxes, I agree
t's really time to take back Randfontein and surrounding areas.
Regarding Rohann Schoombie’s letter on page 4 of the 1 November 2019 edition of the Herald, with headline It’s time to hold council accountable … the following:
I fully agree and stand by his suggestion that we stop paying rates and taxes.
Also to all prepaid electricity customers, you will notice on your account a charge for ‘Electricity basic prepaid’.
On numerous occasions, I have requested clarity on this charge, but without success. I also suggest that we stop paying this and add it to your rates and taxes that we pay into a registered account every month, as suggested by Rohann.
We must also ask if there are any lawyers [in the community] who are prepared to support this initiative pro bono. It’s really time to take back Randfontein and surrounding areas.
