Steyn modest in victory

"To have done something to help the team win is great."

Proteas bowler Dale Steyn was modest in victory by claiming he was happy to have helped lead the Castle Lager Proteas to victory by 153 runs in the opening Test match against Sri Lanka on Sunday.

South Africa had a mountain to climb on the closing day on Sunday after they saw their opponent’s knock 110 runs off their score all while losing just one wicket.

Steyn and Morne Morkel were two stars of the Test match as they finished with 16 wickets between, something the former remained humble about.

“I’m happy with these figures,” Steyn said after the game. “To be totally honest, I’m just happy that we won this cricket game.

“It’s tough to come and play cricket here in Sri Lanka so to have done something to help the team win is great, but I’m just happy we won.”
