Pedestrian killed and motorcyclist airlifted to hospital in N14 collision

Tragedy strikes on the N14 East near Knoppieslaagte in Centurion as a motorbike crash leaves one dead and another fighting for his life

Emergency responders servicing Pretoria attended the scene of a motorbike crash on the N14 near Knoppieslaagte in Centurion on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 17:00.

According to Community Emergency Response Team South Africa (CERT-SA) in a statement, a man sustained serious injuries when he allegedly collided with a pedestrian.

CERT-SA said the pedestrian suffered severe injuries.

According to the statement, “The pedestrian was fatally wounded in the incident and pronounced dead on arrival.”

It said the motorcyclist was treated on the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.

“The motorbike rider was stabilised on scene and airlifted to hospital by Netcare911 Aeromedical Helicopter in a critical condition,” added CERT-SA.

Although the specifics of the accident are unknown, authorities have opened an investigation.
