Help find a loving home for rescued Gypsy
A dislocated hip, an old fracture and biliary issues were just some of the battles this rescue dog faced.
The Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre in the east of Pretoria is calling on all fur lovers to adopt and take care of a rescued dog.
The east shelter for abused and neglected animals recently rescued a female dog, Gypsy, found in a terrible condition.
According to the shelter’s welfare manager Veronica Van Greunen, Gypsy’s journey has been one of survival, strength and healing.
She said Gypsy was found in Bronkhorstspruit.
“She was a skeletal dog, her fragile body bearing the scars of neglect and hardship.”
Van Greunen said malnutrition, a dislocated hip, an old fracture and biliary issues were just some of the battles the dog faced.
“Gypsy’s spirit remained unbroken. With gentle care, nutritious food and boundless love, she transformed from a mere 17kg to a healthier 25kg.”
She said the dog’s physical pain was addressed through a femur head manipulation procedure, followed by a femur head and neck excision, as the femur head wouldn’t stay in the socket.
Van Greunen appealed to people who believe in second chances and the transformative power of love, to consider opening their home and heart to Gypsy.

“By adopting her, you won’t just rescue a dog – you will gain a loyal companion who will cherish every moment with you.”
She said Gypsy is incredibly loving and sweet around women, but has a deep-rooted fear of men.
“Patience and understanding are key to helping her thrive,” she said.
