Festival of Lights with Diwali Market
The festival of light is about having people come and experience the cultural observation of Diwali, the annual festival of the triumph of light over darkness.
Families from Pretoria and surrounding areas came together as one to celebrate the vibrant cultural occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights at Time Square’s Diwali Market on Sunday.
The Diwali Market started at 11:00 and will run until 18:00, lighting up as the sun sets on a gloriously warm and picturesque evening.

Keegen Bekker from The Markets said they had about 37 vendors to celebrate the festive occasion of Diwali. The stalls included displays of incredible crafts, traditional Indian sweets, savoury delights, stunning jewellery, authentic Indian attire, beautiful candle lanterns, and decorative items.
He said the festival of light is all about having people come and experience the cultural observation of Diwali, the festival of light that is experienced once a year.

“This is something everyone can come together for as a family and get anything they want for the occasion; it’s an incredible sight to be at,” said Bekker.
For those who might not be familiar with Diwali, the festival is an opportunity for you to dive into the rich cultural experience of the most important Hindu festival of the year, which symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.”
