Car theft suspect arrested after police chase
Officers also arrested a motorist for spinning his vehicle.
Tshwane Metro Police Department’s (TMPD) tactical unit recently arrested a suspect for possession of a stolen vehicle following a car chase.
The arrest took place on April 8 in Ga-Rankuwa after the unit tracked down the stolen car in the area.
In a social media post, the department says that the car in question, a Toyota Hilux, was originally stolen from the Pretoria Gardens area.
“The members responded to information received regarding a Toyota Hilux double cab bakkie that was stolen at a shopping centre in Pretoria Gardens. Members followed up and managed to trace the vehicle in Ga-Rankuwa. After patrolling the area the vehicle was spotted with one suspect, a chase ensued and the suspect was apprehended. The bakkie was badly stripped on the interior,” the post read.
In a separate case, the same unit recovered a hijacked truck in Mamelodi East that was found abandoned with no suspects.
In Pretoria West, another suspect was arrested after he was found spinning a vehicle. He tried to drive off at high speed but was quickly apprehended after hitting the pavement.
