SA Powerball results via an app or in person

Powerball winners in South Africa have learnt how to try different options when entering lottery numbers. How is this done?

South Africans far and wide continue to make good use of technology to enter the lottery around the country.

In this day and age, while there are still many who prefer going to a shop to do so in person, the SA Powerball and other draws can, of course, be entered online.

An increasingly popular way of doing this is via one’s banking app. It’s quick and convenient – and done from the comfort and mobility of one’s smart phone or any other device.

There are several examples of South Africans who have won a jackpot or smaller prizes after entering the draw via an app and being among the victorious Powerball results a short while later.

A relevant and topical example of this is the man from Pretoria who landed a prize of approximately R100 million. Just because he used an app, it didn’t mean he needed to opt for an automated selection of numbers. No, he used his own handpicked digits and they proved successful.

“I have no plans to make big changes to my lifestyle, everything will still be normal, perhaps I may just buy a car and a house only. I do plan on paying off debt and investing the rest of the money,” he said at the time.

“I was excited, extremely happy. I have been playing the lottery games since my days in university, so it has been many years, and this is the first time I won any jackpot.

“People need to understand the odds of winning the lottery. You will never know when it will be your turn to win, now I know that winning is possible.

The winner’s statement that he has ‘no plans to make big changes to his lifestyle’ makes for interesting insight into the future prospects of South African lottery winners.

Some go all out, splashing out on big purchases such as overseas holidays and properties. Others play things a bit more modestly, perhaps purchasing an entry level car or funding some education for themselves or others.

Early August 2021’s news of a R158 million winner in the SA Powerball draw is a solid example of good balance between big spending and thoughtful investment.

“I would love to travel to Durban, as I have never been there before and I have always wanted to go there for a family vacation at the seaside,” said the North West woman.

“A portion of the winnings will go towards building and furnishing our dream home, with the help of an interior designer and the best architect to ensure that everything I have always dreamt of as a little girl becomes exactly what I envisioned.”

“When I saw the winning Powerball numbers, I knew that I had won the Powerball jackpot of R158 million, but I kept on checking the numbers throughout the day to ensure that I was not mistaken or that I would wake up from a dream.”

Whether it’s entering the lottery via and app or in person and how winnings are spent, South Africans know how to make it work according to their circumstances and needs.
