City turns sites into opportunities with property leasing initiative
Investors, developers, and entrepreneurs are being invited to lease 10 neglected municipal properties, transforming dormant spaces into hubs of economic growth, job creation, and community renewal.
The metro has opened the door to new investment and development opportunities by inviting stakeholders to lease and revitalise 10 neglected municipal properties across the city.
Through this initiative, led by the Bad Buildings Mayoral Sub-Committee, it aims to transform underused spaces into thriving centres of economic activity, job creation, and community renewal.
MMC for Corporate and Shared Services and chairperson of the committee, Cllr Kholofelo Morodi, said the initiative is more than a property release; it is a city-wide call to action.
“Tshwane is reversing years of deterioration and transforming forgotten spaces into vibrant hubs of opportunity. Each site represents a chance to rebuild, reconnect, and reignite economic and social vitality across our communities,” Morodi said.
The revitalisation sites include:
– Erf 1932 Zwartkop Ext 16
– Remainder of Erf 6957 Mamelodi (HM Pitje Stadium)
– Nelson Mandela Corridor Project properties in Sunnyside (Erven 1/822 – 1417 and related erven)
– Odi Stadium, portion of the remainder of the farm, Mabopane 702-JR
– Pretoria Showgrounds Events Centre, Skougronde Farm No. 648-JR, and Portion 5 of Pretoria Town and Townlands Farm No. 346-JR
– Erf 43 Verwoerdburgstad
– Rosslyn Industrial Properties (Erven 372–375, 396–399, 401–403, and 469–470 Rosslyn Extension).
“The rejuvenation of these properties is part of a broader mission to ensure every corner of Tshwane contributes to growth, job creation, and community upliftment. Investors, developers, and entrepreneurs are invited to be part of this transformation – turning dormant land into dynamic spaces that serve the people of Tshwane,” Morodi added.
The move comes as the city continues to roll out the Know Your Way In – Lease Application Workshop, a capacity-building initiative that equips communities with the tools and confidence to access municipal opportunities transparently and effectively.
The metro also recently expanded its Lease Enquiry Desk operations: Tshwane House Cubicles 7 and 8 (open Monday – Friday) and the Ou Raadsaal (Church Square) Cubicles G27 and G28 (open Wednesdays only).
The new desks are already operational. The operating hours are 07:30 –16:00 at key service points across the city.
