Metro enforces by-laws at Saulsville and Sun Valley shops
Several unregistered shops in Saulsville were inspected during a city operation aimed at ensuring business compliance and protecting legitimate traders.
Shop owners were encouraged to register their businesses with the city during a recent by-law operation carried out by Tshwane Mayor, Dr Nasiphi Moya, in Saulsville, in the west of Pretoria.
The by-law enforcement and revenue collection operation in Saulsville targeted nine non-compliant shops and businesses that have consistently failed to pay their municipal revenue.
Moya said that they checked several food warehouses for compliance and the legal status of many of the foreign nationals who operate these businesses.

“Our very own citizens are helping foreign nationals operate spaza shops and warehouses.
“This shop’s operating certificates are registered in the name of a South African woman, but the business is owned and operated by foreign nationals,” Moya said outside one of the warehouses checked.
The officials were joined by TMPD officers, by-law enforcement officials from various departments and the MMC for Health, Tshegofatso Mashabela.
“Our goal is to reclaim Pretoria West and restore it to its former glory – a clean, orderly, and thriving part of our city where businesses operate legally and contribute fairly to Tshwane’s economy.
“By ensuring compliance, we are not only enforcing the law but also protecting honest business owners and promoting accountability in every corner of our community,” Mashabela said.

The operation followed a similar one executed by TMPD, which removed illegal structures in Sun Valley, Mamelodi West, on November 11.
Numerous illegal extensions and outbuildings were permanently removed, restoring compliance and reducing safety risks in the area.
Residents are reminded that all building extensions or new structures require prior municipal approval to meet safety and zoning standards. The metro asks residents to report violations to TMPD at 012 358 7095/6.
