POLOKWANE – The department of health’s dental hygiene department visited the Association of Persons with Disability (APD) last Thursday for lessons and demonstrations on oral health.
The demonstration was conducted by oral hygienist, Gloria Maleka, who said oral health was one of the most important issues, although most people tended to ignore it, which led to bigger issues.
“We all know there’s nothing as painful as a toothache, because teeth are most sensitive and they need to be well taken care of,” said Maleka.
She demonstrated how to brush your teeth and explained to residents what caused bad breath and bleeding gums.
“You do not need a special toothbrush to brush your teeth properly, you just have to do it the right way, twice a day and you will have healthy teeth.”
