POLOKWANE – Duroc Foods sales manager, Gerrit Venter is recuperating well and is expected to be home with his family soon after he was attacked by one of his workers recently.
Mariska Vosloo, Venter’s daughter said her father’s health improved daily. “His first operation to repair the damage to the front of his head on March 14 was a huge success and he has just undergone his final operation this past weekend to repair the damage to his cheek bones.
“He was moved out of the ICU and can receive more visitors now.
“He is still very tired and has some difficulty when eating, but is slowly returning to his old self. “We are looking forward to have him back home, although we are not sure when this will be,” she said.
Venter was attacked by an employee of Duroc Foods after being told not to use the company washing machine for his own personal washing.
The employee ambushed Venter outside the business, where he struck him in the face with an angle iron, causing damage to his nose, facial bones and skull.
Venter was taken to Mediclinic Limpopo, where he was stabilised and air lifted to Pretoria.
After four days of being monitored and waiting for the swelling to go down, Venter spoke to his wife Christa and doctors agreed that they would be able to operate and repair damage to his facial bones.
