4 000km for rhinos

POLOKWANE – Enzo van Vuuren has dedicated 4 000km on his bicycle to Rhino Awareness by travelling from Cape Town to Polokwane.

He drives from town to town in a Mercedes Smart car with a rhino horn mounted in front of the vehicle. He stops for two or three days at some towns or cities where he cycles around that area to clock his 4 000km.

Van Vuuren left Cape Town on January 7 and travelled through George, Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Rustenburg, Bela-Bela and Polokwane.

“The vehicle attracts people’s attention everywhere I go and we talk about rhinos and how they (people) can play a role to save our rhinos. I also sell ribbons for R10 each with ‘mourn for our rhino’ printed on it. The money will be used for our rhino orphanage in George as soon as Cape Nature approves our land claim for the orphanage,” Van Vuuren said.

Van Vuuren finished a whopping 1 000km already for Rhino Awareness and he plans on finishing another 1 000km this year.

The rest, he says, he will complete next year.

Van Vuuren will still travel through Pretoria, Johannesburg, Potchefstroom, Kimberley and his final destination will be Bloemfontein.
