POLOKWANE – A tender for the construction of a new 109-bed private hospital, owned by Netcare, was awarded to Siya Zama GVK Building and Renovation, the same company that is currently working on the construction of the Polokwane high court.

Construction on the site, bordered by Grobler and Mahem Streets as well as Du Preez and Eland Avenues in Fauna Park, is already underway, having started earlier this year.

The cost of building the hospital is estimated at R540 million and would eventually be the first phase of a much bigger hospital.

According to Netcare’s Annual Integrated Report for 2013.

“Netcare continues to evaluate growth opportunities and identify areas where we can expand our national footprint. We are commencing the construction of a 109-bed hospital in Polokwane and a 100-bed hospital in Pinehaven in Gauteng. Both hospitals are expected to be commissioned in 2015 with completion expected in 2015.”
