Tourism is on show

The Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) entered into a three year partnership with the organisers of the Polokwane Show.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) entered into a three year partnership with the organisers of the Polokwane Show.

LTA will now manage their own tourism hall at the Polokwane Show for the next three years.

Representatives signed the agreement last Thursday at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World.

LTA and a number of product owners had participated in the Polokwane show before, but they did not have a dedicated tourism hall to their disposal and experienced minimal exposure.

The organisers of the Polokwane show asked LTA to look into the possibility of supporting a local show that caters for the local market, because they felt that LTA’s tourism products were not known to Polokwane residents.

Fixon Hlungwani, acting CEO of LTA, said 26 tourism products would benefit from this agreement by taking part in the exhibit in the dedicated hall at the Polokwane show

He said Meropa Casino and Entertainment World would sponsor the exhibition spaces of 10 tourism product owners of their choice.

“The exhibition spaces are available on a first come, first served basis and are available at a minimal fee of R2 000, payable to the show organisers.

“The show will take place from May 29 to 31.

“By entering into this agreement, LTA will look at the possibility of changing this predominantly agricultural show into a show with a strong tourism flavour.”
