POLOKWANE – Thanks to the Rachel Swart Fund, Elsa Greyling, a resident at Centenary House can now move around easily in her brand new electronic wheelchair, which cost R24 000.
The electronic chair was donated to Greyling last week after Centenary House social worker, Maria Stone, wrote to the Rachel Swart Fund explaining Greyling’s situation.
“I knew if there was someone who could help us it was the Rachel Swart Fund because they have donated to us before and they do that almost every year.
“We are really grateful and thankful to them for their generous donation,” said Stone.
Greyling has been a resident at Centenary House for 17 years and she is physically disabled, suffering from multiple sclerosis. She had difficulty using the manual wheelchair as she cannot use her hands as well.
“I like my new chair because I do not have to push it like the old one, which was difficult for me to push as my hands would get really sore.
“This one is nice and moves quicker with only the press of a button,” she said.
