Harmony Social Club reaches out a hand
There is no greater joy than to give back to the community, said the women of Harmony Social Club in Seshego on Sunday.
POLOKWANE – There is no greater joy than to give back to the community, said the women of Harmony Social Club in Seshego on Sunday.
The women donated washing powder, soap, dish liquid, stay soft, toilet paper, disposable nappies, Vaseline and other house hold detergents to Ngwana Baby House in celebration of Mother’s Day.
They also donated the same products, replacing the disposable nappies with toothpaste at the Samaritan Centre.
They are about 22 women in the club and each woman contributed R200 towards this initiative.
Sandra Jansen van Rensburg, Ngwana Baby House mother thanked the women for their donation. “The children at the home do not have parents and it is so fitting that you came to visit them on Mother’s Day. We are so grateful for the donation, it will really make a difference.” There are 44 children at the Samaritan Centre and Reneiloe Phalane, a care worker at the centre thanked the women for their donation.
“We depend on donations and this will make a huge difference at the centre. Thank you very much,” Phalane said.
Berel Mamabolo, Harmony Social Club spokesperson said they were passionate about giving back to the community and this was just the start of many community projects.
“We are planning our next visit to Martha Hofmeyer Old Age Home and the Seshego Drop-in Centre. We are also having a Women’s Day celebration in August, where different motivational speakers will motivate women of all races and ages as we celebrate being a woman and commemorate what our sisters have done for our freedom in 1956,” Mamabolo said.
