POLOKWANE – The Rotary Club of Polokwane held their induction dinner on Saturday during which their new president was inducted and several members received accolades.

Past-president Efion Akpan acted as master of ceremonies, with outgoing president Anne Kirkpatrick saying a few words and delivering her report on the club’s activities during the 2013/14 period.

“In the Rotary year we participated in Rotary activities, we raised money and we used it in furthering the idea of service above self,” she said.

“I owe thanks to many people, and wish the new president luck.”

Rob Williamson was announced as the new president and a new member, Trevor Mulaudzi, was also inducted.

The Rotarian of the Year award went to Avril Mueller.

During his induction speech, Rob shared his plans for the year. “I want to make the club even better and build on the success of past presidents. I ask Rotarians to recommit to our cause.”

He also introduced his board of directors for 2014/2015. They are Avril (secretary), Malcolm Lister (treasurer), Shertina Maremane (president elect and club administrator), Roy Kirkpatrick (Rotary Foundation), Mxolisi Bambo (membership), Charles Hardy (community service) and Maite Letsoalo (public relations and youth).

Rob ended the evening by saying “I hope I will be a worthy successor. Thank you to Anne for what she has done over the past 12 months.”
