Finally: learner receives her ID

"Why must a person first threaten the department with the media before they get any service delivery," asked an annoyed and frustrated mother from Westenburg.

POLOKWANE – “Why must a person first threaten the department with the media before they get any service delivery,” asked an annoyed and frustrated mother from Westenburg.

This after her daughter struggled for months to get her identification smart card from the department of home affairs.

It was only after Susan Mogorosi reported the matter to Review that she received a message from the department to collect her daughter’s ID.

“We applied for Melanie’s ID in February and they said it would take about two weeks, but we did not receive anything after a month.

“When I called to ask what the delay was, they said there were problems with the capturing of Melanie’s fingerprints, so we had to redo that. I was so angry because if I did not call to find out why my daughter’s ID was taking so long, we would never have known there was a problem with the process. No one from the department called to ask that we redo the fingerprints. That is just unprofessional.

“We still did not get the ID two months after we redid the fingerprints, so I called Review for help. One day after speaking to Review, I received an SMS that said I could collect the ID,” Mogorosi said.

Mogorosi said her daughter was in gr. 12 and needed her ID to write her senior certificate examinations. She also needed a copy of her ID for her university applications.

“Thanks to Review we now have her ID and she can send her university applications and she will be able to write her examinations,” Mogorosi said.
