ANCYL supports Polokwane mayor to chair ANC region

THE ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in the Peter Mokaba region took a decision to support Polokwane mayor Thembi Nkadimeng for chairperson of the ANC Peter Mokaba region.

THE ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in the Peter Mokaba region took a decision to support Polokwane mayor Thembi Nkadimeng for chairperson of the ANC Peter Mokaba region.

This decision was made during the ANCYL Peter Mokaba regional executive committee (REC) meeting in Polokwane last Thursday.

ANCYL Peter Mokaba regional chairperson, Castro Modiba, said the REC noted and paid tribute to women of South Africa for the significant roles they played, and continued to play, in the struggle for national liberation and socio-economic emancipation in South Africa.

He said the women’s political commitment and heroism inspired others to continue with the struggle of making South Africa a better place to live in.

According to Modiba, the REC extensively discussed the upcoming ANC Peter Mokaba regional conference and agreed on its position over the matter.

“The ANCYL in the Peter Mokaba region believes that at this current conjuncture, there is a need to have a leader of the ANC who understands the challenges and frustration of young people. We need a leader who will never compromise the principles of the organisation, a leader who will satisfy all leadership requirements as set out in the guiding document, a leader who will serve as a beacon of hope to all ANC members and the ordinary masses of our people,” Modiba said.

In light of this, they would support Nkadimeng for chairperson. Others who enjoy their support included Solly Rasefate for deputy chairperson, Zebulon Mphofela for secretary, Gideon Chepape for deputy secretary and Blouberg mayor Serite Segoloane for treasurer.

“We offer them our full and undivided support in the upcoming branch general meetings and the regional conference of the ANC Peter Mokaba. The conference will be held in Polokwane from September 26 to 28,” Modiba concluded.
