VENDA recently provided the setting for a local drama, Fortune, which was aired on e-tv’s eKasi Our Stories on Monday.
Fortune was written and directed by Asivhanzhi Mathaba.
Starring Millicent Mothiba and Martha Mokhatshelwa, it tells the story of a stubborn young woman, whose life is changed when her husband dies and her sister-in-law stands in the way of her inheritance. The sister-in-law tells the woman that only her children will be taken care of unless she marries her husband’s younger brother.
Mothiba, who is best known for playing Agnes Mukwevho on Muvhango, said she was excited about this drama, because her character helped to send the message that people need to accept change.
She said the drama told a Limpopo story the way it was supposed to be told.
“I want to advise all those who aspire to become actors to make education their first priority,” said Mothiba.
