Residents in zone 2, Third House had no alternative but to make use of the filthy water, because they could not afford to buy bottled water.

Stanford Sekhaolelo said he did not immediately notice that the water was dirty until he had taken a few sips. “I was shocked when the water tasted like soil,” he said and expressed his concern over whether it would affect his health.

Mancha Thoka, said he was lucky to notice that the water was dirty before he drank it.

Polokwane Municipality spokesperson, Tidimalo Chuene, said they were not aware of any polluted water in Seshego, but would investigate the matter.

“People can report problems like this to the municipality at (015) 290 2376,” she said.

• Last week, the reservoir supplying Seshego was only 24%, however, by Monday it was 75% full. Chuene called on all residents to use water sparingly.
