Edwel grateful to dedicated members of CPF

POLOKWANE – The Edwel Community Policing Forum (CPF) received such enormous support from the community and businesses they serve, that they wanted to thank everyone who has assisted them, especially those who have made donations to assist them to do their duties.

“It has been a great feeling to know that we have the backing of the community and even businesses in Polokwane. They have have either been there with us every step of the way, taking part in patrols, or have helped made patrols possible by donating what they could,” Edwel’s management, who did not wish to be identified due to the nature of their work, told Review.

Edwel, which covers the Eduan Park and Welgelegen neighbourhoods, is one of the most successful and cost-effective organisations in fighting crime. This was said at several recent meetings between Edwel and the Polokwane police, by Polokwane police spokesperson Capt Ntobeng Phala, as well as Polokwane police station commander, Brig Tom Shingange.

“Edwel is proud to say that crime has drastically been reduced in our area thanks to our excellent communication systems, our members’ commitment to patrols and reactions, and the close working relationship between Edwel and the police,” Edwel’s management said.

There were still members not contributing to this initiative, possibly because they were unaware of how they could assist, Edwel’s management said. “Each and every person can contribute. Our members have various skills that could be valuable to us, so we urge residents to speak to us.”

Edwel’s management further called on all residents in their area to join as soon as possible and, in so doing, help make the area safer.

“Your age or gender should not hold you back. Edwel is a family that supports one another. Come and join us; there are no monthly fees. Become involved and contribute to your own safety.

“If you want to make a difference and live in Eduan Park or Welgelegen, contact Edwel by sending an e-mail to itstopshere.edwel@gmail.com.”
