Bye horticulture, hello fashion

LIMPOPO – AFTER he realised that his dream to study horticulture was not about to come true, Benny Ramohlale (25) from Botlokwa, Sekonye fell back on his second love: fashion.

Ramohlale said he was very disappointed when he was unable to study further because of a lack of funds, but he regarded his love for fashion design as a blessing in disguise. He studied fashion design at the Tshwane North College and today he has a few clients in his neighbourhood who trust him to dress them.

“When I was very young, I used to watch fashion channels on television and read fashion magazines. Now I have pleasure when I see people wearing my designs; it makes me feel great and love fashion even more.”

“I would like to be one of the young successful designers in this province and I will continue learning more from people who have been in the industry for long. I also want to see myself designing for local celebrities in the province. This will put my designs on the map,” he said.
