Ruh Street soon to be pothole-free

LOUIS TRICHARDT – Over the last couple of years, some streets in town have fallen into a state of disrepair.

Among these streets are Ruh, Kruger, Koraalboom, Celliers, Waterbessie and Tshirululuni Street. Ruh Street was one of the streets that was previously temporarily repaired.

Municipal spokesperson, Louis Bobodi, said Ruh Street was an important street because of Soutpansberg Primary School’s location, with parents dropping off and picking up their children.

About two weeks ago the municipality started removing the top layer of the road surface in Ruh Street.

“The rebuilding of Ruh Street forms part of the Makhado Municipality’s ongoing street refurbishment programme. The rebuilding of the street will be done in phases. The contractor appointed for this job is Mukhatshane Construction and the completion date for the contract is September,” Bobodi said.

This project, according to Bobodi, would be financed from the R13,7 million allocated for the repair of streets in town. “Other streets that will receive attention soon are Celliers, Waterbessie and Tshirululuni Street,” Bobodi said.

Review spoke to a resident of Louis Trichardt regarding the fixing of streets.

“I am so happy that the municipality is doing its job. Even though it is a bit of a mess at the moment, with the roads closed, I am sure the end result will be worth it. I don’t mind the closed roads if this will mean a pothole-free Louis Trichardt,” Dora Mudau said.
