LIMPOPO – DAVID Rahlapane from Fedile Secondary School in Molemole Municipality was crowned the winner of the 2015 District School Entrepreneurship competition at Polokwane Royal Hotel on Friday.
The competition was held among the five local municipalities, with each municipality represented by one school.
“It was my pleasure to be named the winner of the competition. I’d like to thank God, and my teacher Koko Raisebe who always motivates me. It was not easy to present my business plan but with the faith I got from my loving teacher I did it,” said Rahlapane. Tebogo Mohlobongwane, who bagged second position, said she had worked hard to be where she is today.
“I am very happy about my second spot, even though I aimed to win. To those who did not make it during the competition – they now have the skills to venture into business.”
Acting executive mayor Capricorn district, Nakedi Sekamela said the purpose of the competition was to teach learners entrepreneurial skills.
“Our economic growth is not doing well, and as Capricorn District Municipality, if we can try to accommodate learners through such programmes, we think we can go places”.
She told CV that the competition, now in its second year, will become an annual event. “As Capricorn District Municipality we engage the department of education and from there, selection and mentoring happens, and we refer them to stakeholders for funding.”
