POLOKWANE – To raise enough money to travel to Johannesburg to watch the Lord of the Dance at Montecasino, the gr. 7 learners from Ivy Park Primary School decided to have a fundraiser.
Organised by their teacher, Minette Zietsman, the learners sold raffle tickets and the draw was held recently.
Glenda Lourens won the first prize, which was 25kg of lamb, while Amos Letsoalo won the second prize consisting of a R300 Mall of the North voucher.
The first prize was sponsored by Minette’s father, Johan Zietsman.
The trip for the learners will cost R12 000 at about R500 each, so the more cards each learner sold the less their individual payment would be for the trip.
“We try to organise events, like our trip to go see Lord of the Dance, every year to expose the learners to these productions and show them that there is a future in drama, dance and art,” said Minette.
