Extra room thanks to these Wendy houses
IVANPLATS donated 16 Wendy houses to 14 organisations in Mogalakwena.
MOKOPANE – IVANPLATS donated 16 Wendy houses to 14 organisations in Mogalakwena.
As Ivanplats moved into their new office building at the beginning of the year, the company decided to donate several of its old infrastructure to various organisations in the Mogalakwena Municipality.
The Ivanplats local economic development department, together with the Ivanplats socio-economic development team, (SED), conducted a due diligence process to identify organisations in Mogalakwena which required more room.
Fourteen organisations were identified to benefit from the Wendy houses.
The Wendy houses were dismantled, transported and reassembled by local contractors.
The concrete slabs which served as the foundation for these rooms were also done by different local contractors registered on the Ivanplats database.
The 14 beneficiary organisations identified included five clinics, Bokwalakwal, Sekgakgapeng, Tshamahansi, Madiba and Mosesetjane. Other organisations included Lesedi Centre in Kgobudi, Unathi Drop-in Center in Madiba, Refilwe Drop-in Center in Masodi, Tharollo Center and Bangwanati Center for the Disabled in Tshamahansi, Pepps in Mahwelereng, Mokopane Traditional Council, Working on Fire in Mokopane and Legae la Bana in Mzombane.
The SED team took two days to hand-over the 16 Wendy houses to the beneficiaries.
At all the places, the beneficiaries were overjoyed with the extra room they would have.
The Wendy houses will be used as extra offices, counselling rooms, resource centers and extra classrooms at the different beneficiary sites.
Mark Wreyford, voluntary base manager at Working on Fire, said: “we are truly thankful for the donation and we can see the positive contribution Ivanplats is making in the community”.
