POLOKWANE – June 26 marked the start of the school winter holidays and learners had their plans for the holidays in order way before they started.
Review spoke to learners at Pemps to find out more.

Theto Moloisi said he was going to practise Afrikaans during the school holidays since he would be attending an Afrikaans high school. He said he received a scholarship to attend King Edward High School and there was nothing he could do but learn Afrikaans in order to secure the scholarship.

Bonolo Maponya said she was going to Pretoria to visit family and would also be preparing for the upcoming Eisteddfod competition. “I need to practise so that I don’t blunder on stage,” she said.

Lesego Ramoroka said he was going to soccer trials in Gauteng and hoped he would come home with good news. “I am part of the Limpopo team that will be playing in the inter-provincial championship in Gauteng and I am so looking forward to it. I am ready to represent the province,” said Lesego.

Refiloe Raphasha said she was going to Matoks to visit her aunt and would also use the holidays to prepare for an Astro-Quiz competition. “We will be going for the third and fourth round in the competition and we need to prepare thoroughly to claim the first spot.
“I will also be preparing for the Eisteddfod competition where I will be reciting a poem,” said Refiloe. She added that she would also be studying during the school holidays to keep up with the pace.
