Greater Tzaneen geared to fill critical management posts

LIMPOPO – THE Greater Tzaneen mayor, Dikeledi Mmetle said the municipality was currently in the process to strengthen their operational capacity by reviewing policies and by-laws, as well as stabilising their administration by filling critical positions at management level.
Speaking during a media briefing in Tzaneen recently, Mmetle said among others, the municipality was currently working on a process to appoint a new municipal manager; interviews were conducted and the successful candidate would be announced as soon as the council took a resolution on the matter.
The positions of director for planning and economic development and of corporate services, which had been vacant for some time, were advertised and the closing date was on June 30. Appointments for these positions would be done in due course.
“The filling of these critical positions known as section 56 and 57 will strictly follow the prescripts of the Municipal System Act as amended by the South African Local Government Association and national treasury guidelines,” Mmetle said.
She said to avoid the appointment of people with fake qualifications, the successful candidates in the above mentioned positions would undergo a vetting process.
Mmetle added that they would implement several infrastructure projects around the municipal area in the 2015/16 financial year.
The projects included Rita to Mariveni, Morutji to Matshwi, Tickeyline to Makhubidung and Mafarana to Bergersdorp.
The mayor also explained that several other projects such as Ramotshinyadi, Miragoma and Ga-Mokgwathi tar roads Thapane to Morutji, Ramotshinyadi bridge, Mafarana to Sedan tar road and Sasekani to Nkowankowa road were completed.
