LIMPOPO – WEDDING singer, Piet Tlaila (23) says with his fifth album, Bahlologadi Vol 5, he wants to grow in the music industry, particularly as a wedding singer in the province. The album was released recently.

Tlaila, better known as Khethile Khethile, was born in Diphale, Burgersfort. He matriculated in 2008 and furthered his studies at the Sekhukhune FET College, where he studied mechanical engineering .

He started singing at the age of 10 with the Sunday school choir.

“I wanted to be a gospel artist, but when moved back to Limpopo in 2009 from Brits in North West, things took a different turn. I met Pino Mogoba, a wedding singer. He saw me dancing and decided to feature me in the video for the track, Lefase Ema Ke Fologe,” he says.

He released his first album, Leshira la Makoti in 2009 and that’s where he developed his love for wedding songs and started to write his own.

In 2011, he released his second album, Khethile Khethile.

“Things started to improve from the first project. It was with this album where I became a household name and bookings for performances started to pour in,” he says.

“My third album, Tlogela Matepe was released in 2012 and people loved it. I got support from my fans and that gave me strength. The album talks about problems people encounter in everyday life no matter whether they are rich or poor. From there, I then started working closely with Peta Ramadimetja, a well-known wedding singer,” he says.

In 2013, he released his fourth album, Tshiwanyana Vol 4.

He has shared the stage with Zahara, Pleasure, Peta Ramadimetja, Thabo Mosoma, Thabiso Mgiba and Malabulabu.
