Young and old enjoy circus

Laughter is the best medicine, putting a smile on someone's face is the best gift.

POLOKWANE – Laughter is the best medicine, putting a smile on someone’s face is the best gift. Karen Botha, Savannah Mall’s marketing manager gave that gift when she invited underprivileged people, who could not afford to buy a ticket, to be entertained by the Mongolian Dream Circus at Savannah Mall last Monday. As part of giving back to the community, she put smiles on the faces of residents with the fabulous show. The residents from old age homes, shelters, the Centenary Home and children from a local créche were left in stitches at the circus with their wacky and wonderful acts.

“I want these people to escape from their worries for about two hours, they must have a good laugh at the circus and forget about their everyday situation,” says Karen. The circus has been in the city for a month entertaining young and old. Mongolian Dream Circus has been in existence for more than 25 years, and a world class service was offered by the performers which featured acrobats, animal acts and many more performed by international Mongolian artists. Joyce Molepo says she has never been to a circus in her life. “When I thought of a circus, I thought of magic. I had fun, I needed some laughter, especially at an old age like this. You need laughter to take your mind off of things,” she explains. Another resident, Shadi Seabi says she is sure she enjoyed it more than the children present. The children from Aladdin’s Den pre-school had mixed emotions during the circus, one moment there were laughs and the next they were teary eyed because of some of the performances that scared them a little.
