LIMPOPO – Boiketlo Primary School in Seshego Zone 3 launched the Wayfarer programme on Friday as a part of the school initiative to keep girls from getting involved in mischief.
The Wayfarer leader, Emily Letsoalo said the main aim of the programme is to educate learners about hygiene and responsibilities. “We plan to keep young girls away from the streets. We hope that these learners will teach other learners to stay away from the street as well. We encourage the young girls everyday to stay away from unnecessary things. We want to build a better country, and we are dedicated to teach them better morals,” said Letsoalo. According to her most of the learners do not focus on their studies, they rather get ivolved with crime and mischief. “We want to see them prosper in life. We hope that the parents will assist us with this journey.”
Boiketlo Primary School principal, Charles Mojapelo, said he was delighted about this programme. “We are reviving the good things that happened in the past for the sake of raising a moral generation,” explained Mojapelo.
Girl Wayfarers Association district suprerintendent, Marble Duba, said education begins at home. “It is our duty as parent to teach the young girls morals. We do not want to see young girls without futures. We hope that this programme will help them to focus on their studies rather than focusing on unnecessary things. We aim to build a better country,” stated Duba.
