POLOKWANE – Curro Heuwelkruin tennis teams battled it out against Laerskool Pietersburg-Oos (Oosskool) during the first matches of the schools tennis league at the Polokwane tennis courts recently.
Both boys and girls competed.
According to the event organiser, Suzanne van Staden, the league is all about playing for fun.
“There is nothing at stake for the competitors. We just want to encourage a healthy and fit lifestyle among young people,” she explained.
She further said the event was an annual tournament where young people got a platform to showcase their tennis skills and forge friendships with other schools. Oosskool beat Heuwelkruin by 11 points. The matches played were tough with players looking to score the most points possible.
