POLOKWANE – The Pemps English Eisteddfod took place from Monday, 31 August to Friday, 4 September with 13 schools that participated in various items.
Curro Heuwelkruin took part, achieving some outstanding results:
• Choral verse: there were 11 classes that participated and three category winners namely Gr 2A, Gr 5 and Gr 6. All the classes obtained Big Gold certificates (90-100%).
• Individual items (Dramatised poetry, formal poetry, monologues and storytelling): there were 52 participants in the individual items and 31 learners achieved Big Gold certificates (90-100%), 18 learners achieved Gold certificates (80-89%), and three learners achieved Silver certificates (70-79%).
Three learners were category winners.
• Group items: Heuwelkruin entered one mixed group for mime (Gr 5 – Gr 7 learners). The group achieved a Big Gold certificate and was chosen as the category winner.
The Gr 2A class that performed a poem about a boy who was late for school and ended up wearing only his pants.
Tumi Ncube is a category winner for Formal Poetry with 92%.
Curro Heuwelkruin learner, Kiana Faia, participated in the Pemps English Eisteddfod that took place from Monday, 31 August to Friday, 4 September. She is a category winner for Formal Poetry with 98%.
