LIMPOPO – Learners in Gr 12 start writing their final examinations on Monday, 26 October – in encouragement Thulamela Mayor, Grace Mahosi accompanied by councillors visited schools in the area last Friday.
At Silemala Secondary School in Khubvi village outside Thohoyandou, Mahosi encouraged learners to strive for a 100% pass rate this year. “Our district normally produce good results each year and we are very proud of that.”
When addressing the learners, Mahosi reminded them about the promises they made during the back-to-school campaigns held at the beginning of the year.
“Education is one of the government’s priorities, so as a municipality it is our mandate to give full support to you. In our municipality we have a Mayoral Bursary Fund, which we offer to those who do well in their exams and want to further their studies but do not have the financial resources,” Mahosi explained.
The principal of Silemale Secondary School, Thinandavha Matodzi, warned learners there is no shortcut to success in life. He urged learners to not be discouraged by the school’s bad infrastructure but focus on learning.
In a statement issued by the department of education, Dr Naledzani Rasila,says the department is ready to conduct the examinations.
