POLOKWANE – Three learners and two staff members from Stanford Lake College (SLC) were selected to attend the recent 2015 Round Square International Conference in Singapore which was hosted by United World College of South-East.
The theme for this year’s conference was Act Today, Change Tomorrow.
The theme centred on the concept of sustainability and was aiming to develop and make delegates understand this concept well so that they could take meaningful actions in their own schools.
The SLC team who attended the international conference are Lethabo Mokone, Mabule Matjie and Rayhaan Tayob, Amy Taylor and Craig Carolan (headmaster).
The learners and personnel learned a lot from the conference and will use the knowledge acquired for a good cause, said Rona McGaffin, SLC marketer.
According to her Stanford Lake College learners are lucky enough to interact with learners and staff from other Round Square Schools across the globe.
“These learners have drawn up a action plan regarding sustainability which will be reviewed in six months. It focuses on ways in which Stanford Lake itself can work towards the concept of sustainability,” explained McGaffin.
She added people must watch this space because she is certain the action plan will surprise residents and be excellent.
