POLOKWANE – The Rotary Junior Ambassador Competition (Rojac) was held at Merensky High School in Tzaneen last Saturday, during which Ngwale Matsapola of Capricorn High School (CHS) won of R20 000 for public speaking.
Rojac is a debate competition run for Gr 11 learners by the Rotary clubs of Limpopo. This competition involves both prepared and unprepared speech, as well as interviews by a panel of judges.
Ngwale was announced the best public speaker after claiming victory over learners from various schools in the province during the provincial competition.
She said the ability to convey her message and the topics she chose in the unprepared speech helped her a lot. “I’m very grateful for this talent and the prize serves as motivation for me to work harder. I would like to see myself competing against people overseas,” she said.
The 17-year-old further said she wants to study commercial law after matriculating. She plans to invest some of her prize money, and spend some for educational purposes.
CHS principal, Lucas Chuene, congratulated her and said the school is very proud of Ngwale.
