Breast Cancer Tea: dancing for a good cause
A treasure hunt, motivation talks, some Latin dancing and a dance competition was all part of the fun during the annual Breast Cancer Tea held at he Park Hotel in Mokopane recently.
MOKOPANE – A treasure hunt, motivation talks, some Latin dancing and a dance competition was all part of the fun during the annual Breast Cancer Tea held at he Park Hotel in Mokopane recently.
With 150 ladies and a few gents the day kicked off with witty MC Fairial Hoosen-Cassim making everyone giggle with laughter. The event was held for a good cause – to raise funds for the Breast Health Foundation.
Leigh Cox explained the importance of mindful meditation in daily life as well as coping with cancer.
The event was topped with Dr Kulsum Jhetam-Cassim giving an insight on breast cancer.
She thanks all the sponsors and the organising committee. Prizes were given for the treasure hunt; Amongst the winners were mother-and-daughter Delani and Acacia Hollhumer, sisters Crystelle De Mendonca and Carmen Grobler, Tannie Louis Wood and mother-and-daughter Claudette and Arianna Jugmohan.
During the tea the ladies were entertained by Jaques and Ronelle from the Latin Dance Academy.
The duo performed the rhythmic Cuban Rumba dance.
Later, the ladies all kicked off their heels and took to the lawn, where Jaques taught them the Californian line dance.
There was a dance competition with prizes handed to Khatija Essack and Leah Langa for showing off their moves.
Before the morning was over Tom and Vicky Shearer, owners of the hotel, pledged an additional R10 000 to the Breast Health Foundation.
