POLOKWANE – A Gr 9 learner from Stanford Lake College (SLC) claimed the national second place at the Junior Afrikaans First Language Olympiad held at SLC recently.
Christian Schmidt snagged the second spot in the country and first place in Limpopo with the 95% score he obtained at the Olympiad.
Other learners from SLC also obtained excellent results at the Olympiad. The learners competed against 4 333 learners from all nine provinces in South Africa.
The other learners from SLC in Limpopo who excelled are:
• Malike Naude – 89%, third place in Limpopo.
• Anya Robinson – 88%, fourth place in Limpopo.
• Elané Maritz – 87%, fifth place in Limpopo.
Overall 12 learners from SLC were placed in the top 20 in Limpopo
Rona McGaffin, SLC marketer, said the school is very proud of these outstanding students. She added that all the learners did exceptionally well and they look forward to next year’s Olympiad.
