Boston City Campus & Business College Polokwane hosted an open day on Saturday to show potential students what this award winning college has to offer.
The purpose of the day was to introduce prospective students to the Polokwane campus and demonstrate the blended method of study, which combines traditional textbook learning with technology-based tuition. The visitors also took part in fun activities that highlighted Boston City Campus & Business College Polokwane’s student life on campus.
Prospective students who attended the day were offered an opportunity to complete a Career Compass assessment, valued at R500, free of charge. “The purpose of this assessment is to identify the person’s field of interest in order to narrow down the choice between the 80 courses and over 400 subjects on offer at Boston. Very often enquirers do not have sufficient information or exposure to the possibilities available and require guidance. Students are thoroughly counselled about their chosen field of interest and advised on planning their career path accordingly,” says Melaney Beneke, Boston City Campus & Business College Polokwane Branch Manager.
“The decision of which course of study to follow is also paramount to which career an individual wishes to follow. Students who study towards courses of interest to them tend to fare better academically and are better equipped to enter the job market.”
During the open day, guests were invited to put their names in a lucky draw and four prospective students won study bursaries. Philemon Molope won a bursary worth R15 000, Lovedacia Ramalatso walked away with a bursary of R5 000, Caroline Ramonyai was overjoyed with her bursary of R10 000, and Vultlhari Mashava said he planned to put his bursary of R5 000 to good use.
Beneke made use of the opportunity to announce that Boston City Campus & Business College Polokwane will offer extended hours from February to accommodate working students by keeping the college open until 19:00 in the evenings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The college’s facilities are currently available to students from 08:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays.
“We will host another open day on 6 February and we want to invite people who are looking for ways to improve their lives to join us again for a fun-filled day where we will once again be giving away prizes and opportunities to win bursaries,” says Beneke, adding that Boston has a diverse range of offerings with over 80 different courses and over 400 individual subjects.
