KFC Polokwane team members last Thursday delivered a very welcome Add Hope donation to the value of R85 000 to a their Add Hope beneficiary ComeToGether CBO Consortium.
The handover ceremony took place in Mankweng at Itumeleng Drop-in and Orphanage Centre, one of the five drop-in centres that will benefit from the Add Hope donation.
ComeToGether CBO Consortium is a registered Non-profit Organisation (NPO) and comprises of a group of community based organisations that impacts the lives of the underprivileged by giving hope to the needy and vulnerable children in and around Polokwane. They have over 39 drop-in centres under their care.
The KFC Add Hope initiative is their Corporate Social Responsibility Programme and allocates the R2 funds raised through the Add Hope menu item, to feed hungry children in South Africa. Since the inception of Add Hope in 2009, the number of children supported through this program has grown exponentially, now creating a meaningful difference by feeding 100 000 children every day.
“Add Hope is our solution to filling many hungry tummies in South Africa and this is how we give back to a community that support us. We can in-turn make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children and they can live, grow and learn on full tummies” says Cheray van Blerk, Local Store Marketing Manager for KFC Polokwane.
She explains that the Add Hope funding period is valid for one year and beneficiaries can apply for renewed funding when the year is over. ComeToGether CBO Consortium’s beneficiary status was renewed on 1 December last year.
Abram Maila, local member of the clergy and Director of ComeToGether CBO Consortium says the donation makes an incredible difference at the five of the thirty-nine drop-in centres that they oversee. The Add Hope funds will be used to buy food for these five drop- in-centres based in Mankewng. “We are very grateful towards KFC Polokwane for making us one of their beneficiaries. With this donation, we can feed children in need and change their lives for the better,” he says.
