3 Westenburg learners to test their knowledge at national championship

Westenburg Secondary School is one of the top 32 finalists to compete in the National School Quiz Regional Championships set to take place in Johannesburg from 2 to 6 December.

POLOKWANE – The Thabo Mbeki Foundation is a partner in the National School Quiz Championship (NSQC).

Three learners from the school, along with their quiz coach, will participate in the competition where they will be quizzed on general knowledge, history, science and mathematics.

The winners of the competition will each receive a three year scholarship and walk away with the 10 Year Legacy Trophy.

The NSQC invited 10 learners from Westenburg Secondary School to be part of the 20th anniversary of the Thabo Mbeki I Am An African public dialogue which was held at the Freedom Park in Pretoria recently.

Westenburg Secondary School quiz coach and teacher, Deborah Matsimela, said it was a great honour and a memorable experience for her and the learners, something they will always cherish.

“We did not only meet Thabo Mbeki but other influential South Africans and we all returned inspired,” Matsimela said.
