Coca-Cola takes up Wheelchair Wednesday Challenge

Every Wednesday, the Association for Persons with Disability (APD) raises awareness through their Wheelchair Wednesday Challenge

POLOKWANE – The challenge sees able bodied people spend time in a wheelchair in an effort to raise awareness on disability.

Coca-Cola Fortune personnel accepted the challenge today (Wednesday) and received their wheelchairs, instruction manuals and their challenge for the day.

Susan Venter, Coca-Cola Fortune, Human Resources Officer, explained why the company decided to support the initiative: “we have participated in Wheelchair Wednesday for a few years now, and for us it is about raising awareness among our employees and supporting APD because this is a good cause”.

Throughout the challenge, one of the personnel members, Girlie Kwakwa commented: “initially, I didn’t know how to turn and I was having a bit of a hard time. I now see the struggles that people living with disabilities face every day, and I have so much respect for them. I will definitely do this challenge again”.

Give the gift of mobility together with Wheelchair Wednesday

Wheelchair Wednesday Challenge organiser, Johnny Graham, urges the community and businesses to come on board with the campaign.

“By becoming part of the Wheelchair Wednesday Challenge, you can help make the dream of someone with a physical disability a reality by giving them the gift of mobility.”
