Commander with a prevalent presence
Matome Mohale is man who knows all about hard work and determination. He is the Station Commander at the Westenburg Police Station, a position he has occupied for the past year.
POLOKWANE – Born and raised in the small, dusty village of Ga-Maupa, Bolobedu he completed high school in 1986 and immediately enrolled in the police force.
“I was enlisted in June 1987 and underwent training at Hammanskraal Police College. I later enrolled for a police administration diploma at the University of South Africa (Unisa) and completed it within three years,” he explains.
Realising the importance of education, Matome did not stop there and went on to obtain a bachelor of technology degree in police administration through Unisa. He also holds a BA Hons in community policing management which he obtained through the University of Limpopo.
He took up his duties at the Westenburg Police Station in June last year after being deployed by the provincial commissioner.
Matome says crime in the country is on the increase and he wants to put a stop to it. “Crime is a thorn in the side of all South Africans. Westenburg is no exception but the crime rate has decreased over the past year. This was only made possible with the involvement and teamwork from the community.”
He says he will continue to build on the strong foundation laid by his predecessors to help make his community crime-free.
