A decision by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) War Council in consultation with the leadership in Limpopo has resulted in the executive structures and branches in Mopani and Vhembe regions having been dissolved the past two weekends.
EFF Provincial Secretary Jossey Buthane confirmed the move, saying that both regions had been dissolved because the organisation needed to be strengthened in those areas in accordance with the guidelines of the EFF Central Command Team for the 2019 general elections.
Following the decision taken at national, the Vhembe regional executive was dissolved last weekend and the one in Mopani this past weekend. In the meantime interim command teams have already been put in place. Buthane could not attach a timeframe to the rebuilding process, but said they were on track. According to him none of the other regional structures of the EFF in the province were expected to follow the same route.
It was learnt that in the case of Vhembe region the decision for the move followed the resignation of the deputy chairperson and deputy secretary while leadership of branches in Mopani had to be rebuilt.
A total of 121 branches in Vhembe region were affected and in Mopani region 129, Buthane concluded.
