Drop-In gets duly needed donation
The centre manager was grateful for the donation and said: "Without support from the government and our communities, we are nothing, however we really appreciate the support we receive from people like our donor"
POLOKWANE – Accompanied by her husband, gospel singer Zanele Zaza Mokgeth donated clothes to more than twenty children at Phelang Drop-in Centre in Bendor on Sunday.
The centre manager, Hellen Mamabolo, says she has been running the centre since June this year and donations of food and clothes have been sparse.
“The donation has indeed changed our lives and we hope to strengthen our relationship with our donor by ensuring that we build a good future for our children,” says Mamabolo.
She says working with children can be challenging, but due to the passion she has for the children, she always wants to see a smile on every child’s face.
“Without support from the government and our communities, we are nothing, however we really appreciate the support we receive from people like our donor and those around us,” she says.
Mokgethi handed over the goods to the children at the centre and said: “It is painful to see a child roaming the streets and using alcohol and drugs. Having no parents does not mean it’s over because one can still rise to great heights,” she says.
“I feel privileged to bring something special to these children. I do believe that this donation will serve as a symbol of care and love towards them.”
