Pedestrian hit by bus in Rissik Street

A pedestrian was hit by a bus on Thursday afternoon after 16:00.

Police and emergency services were on scene when a pedestrian was knocked over by a bus on Rissik Street, Thursday afternoon.

POLOKWANE – The accident happened in Rissik Street close to Plein Street.

According to eyewitnesses, the pedestrian tried to cross the road during heavy traffic. It is alleged that the bus hooted, however, it was too late and the bus ran over the pedestrian.

Medical personnel were on the scene and the pedestrian was taken to hospital, while the bus company sent another bus to transport stranded passengers.

According to Polokwane Police spokesperson, W. O Lesiba Ramoshaba, a case of reckless driving and negligence was opened.

The bus company could not be reached for comment on the matter.
